Abdominal EtchingAbdominal etching is a technique using differential liposculpture where detailed body fat is removed enhancing the shapely figure of the underlying muscles of the abdomen. These muscles are typically unseen or smothered under 1 to 2 inches of fat. The goal with this procedure is to create the so-called “six-pack” abdomen. Candidates for abdominal etching are highly disciplined males who work out daily and maintain a low fat diet. To achieve the washboard abdomen, deep, intermediate, and superficial liposuction are used. The procedure has been performed in females, but leaves a somewhat unnatural look. Modified abdominal etching is a procedure for both male and female athletes who typically work out three to four times a week and desire a better definition of the abdominal area. With hard work, the moderately fit athlete can develop a six-pack if strict dietary conditions are met. When exercise conditions have been maximized and more definition is desired, patients become candidates for this procedure. The procedure is individualized to create a harmonious result for both males and females. Because this procedure is not as aggressive as Abdominal etching, it can be used in women with outstanding results. |
