The Insurance Question and Plastic SurgeryOur practice focuses on aesthetic plastic surgery enhancement of individuals. It is our specialty and patients seek us out to fulfill their aesthetic plastic surgery needs. Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid programs do not cover the expenses of hospitalization and surgical fees when plastic surgery is done exclusively for cosmetic reasons. If the plastic surgery operation is performed in an attempt to improve or restore function, insurance may defray some of the costs. Plastic surgery patients, not their insurance carriers, are responsible for all charges incurred for services rendered by our physicians. There are a no exceptions. Those portions of your plastic surgery which are considered functional may be covered under certain health plans. Portions of your plastic surgery and operating room fees deemed to be cosmetic in nature shall be the responsibility of the patient. It is the patient's responsibility to determine if he or she is covered by an insurance plan. As an ethical surgeon, I do not fill out insurance forms so that it appears that work performed was not for cosmetic purposes. |
